Description

A bird’s eye view and a peaceful spot in a quiet lane for those seeking the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Cottage cuteness

This 1930s style detached home has some subtle art deco touches from its native era that add a warmth and glamour to your abode. Adding to the house’s sun-trap spot on the hills of Hythe, it’s a hard place to leave once you’ve arrived. From its position in a quiet laneway, high above town the views towards the Kent coastline are fabulous and there’s just enough terraces to enjoy them over a glass over wine and a sunset before the lawns of the cottage’s garden slope away.

For a couple or two seeking a new perspective on Kent, this base on the outskirts of Hythe won’t disappoint. The living space is so comfortably considered. The open plan kitchen and dining room are naturally sociable whether you’re brewing coffee, making breakfast or after dinner treats. The sitting room proffers squishy sofas and armchairs, a roaring fire should you need it and really all that’s left is your choice of movie for a relaxing evening in. For those who need to catch up on emails or take calls during their stay, the study provides the perfect nook.

Exploring out and about in Hythe is really quite delightful. The town itself is a few minutes’ walk down the hill - be prepared for the wander back up! Enjoy your ice creams on Hythe beach for the day and you’ll be amply energised for the return climb. Also in town is the Royal Military Canal, which rather wonderfully has rowing boats for hire making for a fun afternoon’s meander like Rat and Mole might under the spell of E.H. Shepherd.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The two first floor bedrooms at Quince Tree Cottage both enjoy a small balcony each and the beds are perfectly placed to soak up the view last thing at night and first thing in the morning. We know where we’d take our early morning brew. Once has a king size bed, the other a double and they share a bathroom with separate bath and shower.

Practicalities

This property is not suitable for babies, toddlers or children under the age of 14 years due to the balcony and terraces.
