Description
Hear the breeze rustling the leaves heavy on the lush branches of tree-lined hillsides. Debate the source of birdsong and wonder where the babbling brook will lead should you leave your morning coffee for a stroll.
Cumbrian calm
There’s little need for a do not disturb sign at Well Tree Cottage. This traditional Cumbrian cottage has been completely and lovingly refurbished to welcome you into an idyllic retreat that many an artist or writer would be envious of. Perched on the banks of the River Lyvennet on the edge of Kings Meaburn village, there’s little here to distract you from your downtime or detox. Come evening time you might be momentarily torn as to which armchair you most want to snuggle into, but there are worse decisions to have to make.
This Lake District retreat is a wonderful base for a family holiday in the great outdoors. In the heart of the Eden Valley between the northern reaches of the Yorkshire Dales and the Cumbria’s lakes you’ll most likely want to explore on foot or two wheels. There are myriad walking trails, for all abilities, accessible from your doorstep. Indulge that latent penchant for trying to catch fish, because you’re free to at least try on this river and you may as well; it’s at the bottom of the garden after all.
Every which way you gaze from the window at Well Tree Cottage you’re reminded of the serenity of your destination. Wherever you wander from day to day, whether you drive a little to explore Hadrian’s Wall or stay close to home, you’ll have the pleasure of returning to this most tranquil of spots. And what’s more, the village pub is less than half a mile away for a spot of reality and a fine beer to celebrate the day.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
The cottage boasts three bedrooms on the first floor of this comfortably furnished holiday home. The master bedroom has a king size bed and an en suite shower room. There are also two twin bedrooms and a family family with a bath and separate shower.
Practicalities
Due to the proximity of the river, children should be supervised outside at all times.
