Description

Simon’s Barn is the ideal luxury self-catering getaway for couples looking for upscale comfort, peace, and quiet on a more intimate scale. Guests here have the proximity of the Norfolk coast, and whether browsing boutiques or art galleries, walking the local trails and beaches, or even whiling away an evening at a first class pub or restaurant, couples new and old will feel that Simon’s Barn is a stylish little corner of Norfolk carved out just for them.

A rustic bijou

Multiple skylights and soothing colours flood this quaint little barn conversion with light and calm, while feature brick walls, exposed beams, and rustic furnishings neatly capture the charm of its character and heritage. With David’s Barn next door, and with room both inside and out to entertain, it’d be easy to travel here with friends, but the wood burner and the deep sofa in the sitting room will have lovebirds yearning for that moment when they can be alone. Even the kitchen exudes its own sense of intimacy. After a day of exploring the North Norfolk marshes and beaches, imagine the anticipation and rusticity of a glass of wine and a quiet meal, tucked away under the ceiling beams and the eaves at the far end of the barn.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Past the sitting room, Simon’s Barn features a sumptuous king-size, en-suite bedroom. Although there is a separate shower cubicle, nothing brings on a good night’s sleep better than soft music and a nice, romantic, candlelit bath.

Practicalities

The owners welcome one medium or two small well-behaved pets. The owner provides a travel cot, highchair, bottle steriliser and logs for the wood burner. Access to a freezer is available at the owner’s property next door, please specify at the time of booking is this is required during your stay. Mobile phone reception is variable.

Special Note: Simon's Barn is next door to David's Barn and is ideal for families or friends who wish to holiday together while retaining their own space.

Reviews

A comfortable and well appointed cottage in a very good location, peaceful but well positioned. We enjoyed our stay at Simon’s Barn.

Mrs A,

We absolutely loved our stay at Simon’s barn. It’s spotlessly clean and has everything you need. Great for our dog too! Brilliant location near the stunning beach at Holkham and lovely Harper Hotel and pub nearby. We will certainly be returning for our third time!

Ms B,

Simon’s Barn is a warm, cosy and spacious accommodation for two people. The bed is exceptionally comfortable and the quality of the bed linen, towels, etc were excellent. The area is beautiful and we would certainly make a return visit.

Mr C,

Very comfortable and well kitted out property. Good location. Lovely pub in the village. Great base to explore the area.

Dr H,

Property clean but a little dusty in places. Kitchen equipment a bit basic i:e only one large saucepan and a small milk pan, wobbly handle on kettle lid which could difficult to open.

Mrs Susan C,

On arrival, the front gate was very stiff to open and we found out that the top hinge only had one screw holding it on. Therefore, it was not secure for our dog to be left just in this small area. With us both in our 80s we found this a rather daunting issue when trying to keep this heavy gate in place and opening it. On trying to enter the security numbers to obtain the front door key we found that the key pad was not working and the key was not secure as the key was easily accessed, we therefore took the key out with us as we felt the cottage was not secure. On using the actual key to get in, we also found the door was warped and the actual key lock did not aline with the door frame. Which in turn meant we had to lift and slam heavily to try to actually secure the locking device. Tap in the kitchen sink moved, it possibly could come adrift. Lovely kitchen, but not a single cupboard to be used for food ( that doesn't need to be refridgerated. All the cupboard space was taken up with equipment. In the bathroom the towel ring next to washbasin was not secure and came off into my wife's hand . Therefore, we think that a general maintenance of the said property should be carried out , especially for security reasons.

Mr Edward H,

Beautiful property. Loved the log burner. Very clean and well equipped. Very comfy bed.
