Wonderful blue skies and the vibrant sunshine is still upon us as we reach the second half of the summer holidays. Our property experts have been busy across the country recruiting exquisite retreats to add to our Niche Retreats collection – and we’re so excited to share them with you.
From a beautiful barn conversion to an iconic building and a former Lookers Hut, our newest retreats reside in the lush Norfolk countryside, on the banks of the River Deben in Suffolk and a large conservation area within Kent.
If you’re searching for the ultimate relaxing holiday abode where everything you could possibly desire is waiting for you, read on and discover our newest retreats this summer.
The Granary, Norfolk Countryside
“Seeing is believing”
The Granary offers guests a unique holiday experience in a stunning setting. This incredible conversion of a farm building is set amongst over thirty acres of Norfolk countryside.
The sympathetic retention of the original barn features such as exposed brickwork, flagstone flooring, arched windows, wooden latched internal doors and ceiling beams complement the carefully chosen luxury furnishings throughout.
Up to fourteen guests can live like royalty at The Granary with seven individually designed bedroom suites, and complimentary bathrobes and slippers are provided for comfort.
Not only is the property truly unique in its design, there are additional extras available which are ideal for a big celebration or special occasion. Choose from private dining to archery lessons plus outdoor facilities include a tennis court with equipment supplied plus a bubbling hot tub to unwind.
If you’re already tempted to book why not try our 3D walkthrough of the property to get a true feel of the grandeur on offer in this exceptional retreat.
Local Tip: The market town of Diss is just a short drive away. Visit The Corn Hall arts centre which was recently refurbished and hosts many exhibitions, musical shows and films.
The Old Granary, Suffolk
“Location, location, location!”
The Tide Mill at Woodbridge in Suffolk is one of the most photographed buildings in the area, and it’s this iconic location where this luxury abode resides.
The Old Granary oozes style and glamour with its on-trend grey and white colour palette, and its character is further enhanced by the exposed brickwork and abundance of windows, flooding the property with natural light. The triple aspect views of the River Deben are plentiful from the first floor living space - guests can really feel they are holidaying by the waterside.
There are two bedrooms and two-bathroom facilities, so The Old Granary is a great option for friends holidaying together. Whether you’re looking to get out and explore the beauty of Suffolk or if you are seeking a place to shut-off and unwind from everyday life then this property will suit you. Visit the heart of Woodbridge for a spot of retail therapy and dine in some fantastic restaurants and bars. For those who prefer a quieter scene, there are many footpaths from the property which are worth exploring and the historic Sutton Hoo archaeological site is just across from the river.
A full walkthrough of the property is available to immerse yourself in the beauty of this retreat.
Local Tip: Find out more about the Woodbridge Tide Mill by visiting the Tide Mill Living Museum – it’s just next door! It gives fascinating insight into the function of the mill and its good fun for children too.
The Lookers Legacy, Kent
“Isolated romance”
Formerly a Lookers Hut where Romney Marsh Lookers would tend to their flocks, The Lookers Legacy has been extended and transformed into the most stunning hideaway for a romantic break in tranquil surroundings. This quaint escape is set within peaceful countryside with a vineyard next to the grounds. Guests can wander the grounds freely and a nearby footpath takes you to the local pub – The Ferry Inn.
The Lookers Legacy has been completed with care and attention to preserve its historic roots. The original Lookers Hut now acts as the bedroom and En-suite whilst the new extension comprises of the open plan living area - both areas really blend together beautifully. The snug open plan living area is a lovely space to curl up with your loved one by the glow of the woodburning stove. The exposed brickwork and the ceiling beams really add to the character of this rural retreat. On a warm summers day guests can bring the outside in by opening the bi-folding doors and sitting out on the patio taking in the quiet surroundings.
Local Tip: The town of Tenterden is just six miles away and known locally as ‘The Jewel in the Weald’. Here you’ll find plenty of independent shops, cafes plus the steam railway which runs through the pretty Rother valley to Bodiam Castle.
