Captains Cottage

Captains Cottage is a beautiful self-catering property located on the west end of Thornham village on the north Norfolk coast. With pubs/restaurants, a café, and a children’s play park all within an easy walk, and with panoramic views over farmland, marshes and the coast itself, Captains Cottage is great for a warm, relaxing getaway.

Uninterrupted sea views

Elegantly furnished and offering bright, spacious accommodation. On the ground floor, there are three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a utility room, complete with a washer/dryer. The first of the three bedrooms has a king-size bed and benefits from an en-suite shower room and WC. The next bedroom holds two twin beds, making it ideal for children, while the third bedroom has another king-size bed. For those wishing for some solitude, there are LCD TVs in each room.

The first floor provides a sizable sitting room with a vaulted ceiling and large windows which bathe the room in natural light. On the opposite side of the room, two sets of French doors open onto the balcony and the uninterrupted views over the sea and marshes. Back inside the sitting room, an electric living flame fire provides a cosy and tasteful focal point. The kitchen is also on the first floor and comes equipped with modern appliances. A beautiful bay window in the dining room, with its additional view over the coast, makes the kitchen and dining room a lovely place to gather at any time of day. Completing the first floor is the Master Bedroom. This has a 6ft sleigh bed, a reading corner, and an en-suite shower room and WC.

Outside, the gardens add to the cottage’s peacefulness. There is a front garden, enclosed by a small wall, whilst the south-facing rear garden is fully enclosed and furnished with garden furniture and a barbecue – perfect for dining outdoors.

Close to coastal attractions

Captains Cottage has parking for four cars, but even though it is discretely located it’s not remote. Multi-purpose electric car charging point available at extra charge which will be metered during stay. The picturesque village of Thornham is just a short walk from the property, while the vibrant coastal town of Hunstanton is only four miles away. Both offer award-winning pubs/restaurants, sandy beaches, and attractions for children. The Coast Hopper bus is another great way to leave the car behind and can take you to Wells-next-the-Sea, the RSPB Reserve at Titchwell, and other villages including Brancaster and Burnham Market.

Practicalities

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. We are also happy to provide towels, a stair gate, and a high chair for your stay. We will require an additional £500 security deposit, payable two weeks prior to the start of your holiday to cover Hunstanton Tennis Week, which takes place annually each August, should the booking cover the relevant dates. Mobile phone reception is weak to variable.
