Description
A simply delightful embrace of a holiday cottage, in a historic seaside resort on the north shores of Devon. The ever-changing ambience of the coast takes centre stage, with natural light flooding the full-floor open plan living area through skylights and windows on all four sides.
The light of the sea
Soft greys and whites are the perfect palette to show off the stunning light that floods this gorgeous house. A communal sofa area is set out with mid-century furniture that keeps the surroundings feeling bright whilst offering indulgent comfort. At the far end of the space, the kitchen and dining area is similarly tasteful, with an acacia table and bench within a striking white kitchen. There are acres of space to pootle around in as you rustle up breakfast for everyone or lay out the evening’s cocktails to enjoy in the sunset.
Grab your mojito (or will you make it a cosmopolitan?) and make your way outside to the sun terrace to perch on the stylish rattan garden furniture. Or heat the hot tub and lay back to watch the clouds effortlessly float by in the clear skies above you. It’s the perfect tonic after a day on the golden sands of Westward Ho! just a few moments away.
On the ground level, bedrooms are simply decorated with minimalist furniture in white against white walls creating a soothing atmosphere, while the soft pinks, yellows and blues of the linen give each room its own distinct identity. Pull down the blackout blinds if you’re hoping for a lie-in, or throw open the large windows and French doors to immerse yourself in the fresh sea air each morning.
Northam Beach, which is part of the local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is just a 10-minute wander across the marshy grassland of Northam Burrows Country Park on your doorstep. You might also be tempted to explore the twin river estuaries that converge around Gray Sands, just over a mile out of town. This is a land that lives and breathes on water and invites you to do the same while you’re here.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
There is space for six in this coastal getaway, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two bedrooms have king-size beds and en-suite shower rooms, while the third can be laid out as a super-king or twin single beds on request. The main bathroom has a bath with shower.
